Do I need to have any previous experience to book a Dog Sledding Tour with Nova Arctic?
No, you do not need any previous experience to book a dog sledding with us. We will teach you the
technique – and you will always travel with an experienced guide.
Who are the guides on sleddog tour? What experiences and qualifications do they have?
What about first aid training?
Per Berglund is head tour leader & company owner with almost 20 years of experiences with sleddogs. Per has lived and worked in the mountains of Lapland for a long time and is used to take care of international guests. Per started is own dog sledding company in 2001. With his experience from working in a hospital in charge of 50 people and with 6 winter and 6 summer sessions as restaurant manager for a Swedish mountain base lodge - we are sure that yu will enjoy his company on the tours.
Before setting out on our journey we will go through and explain the Safy routines and procedure with you. During all our dog sledding tours the guide carries a Satelite phone in case of emergency. All our the guides has first aid training as well as a first aid kit with them.
Where do we sleep in the mountains? What about food?
In cosy mountain huts – without any running water or electricity.
The mountain huts can be vary specious but also very small which mean you have be prepared
to sleep in the same room as the rest of the team.
Do you sleddog in all kinds of weathers? Do you cancel the tours because it is to cold?
Dog sledding we do in all kinds of weather.
We will always adjust the tours according to theweather.
We do not cancel tours because of cold weather,
What distance do you travel with sleddogs in a day?
Around 30-50 km (19-31 miles) a day depending on the weather conditions.
Can I come along on sleddog tour if I am alone?
Yes, no problem. We have maximum of 6 places on every dog sledding tour.
Will I see Northern Light?
You have the possibility to enjoy the sparking Northern Light with its magic touch during certain days in December to end of February depending on the weather conditions. There is no guarantee that you will see northern light.
Do I need to be fit to go on dogsledding tour?
If you are normal physcial activie person you will have no problems with the tour. No previous experiences is required.
What kind of winter clothing do I need?
We are able to provide you with a full set winter equipment, clothes & boots that you need for the sleddog tour.
Do not worry or let the clothes stop you from coming on winter adventure woth sleddogs. We will supply you with right winter clothes for your sleddog adventure.

How cold does get in Lapland? Is it dark most of time?
During December and January the temperature can various between -5- -20 degrees.
The temperature can drop down to -30 degrees for a short period during this time of the year.
In mars and April the temperature can be between -10 to +10 in the sun.
Facts you did not know! It is always warmer in the mountains then in the valleys and forest.
It can differ up to 10 degrees.
The really cold temperature like -30 degress will only last of a day or so in january or february.
How many people is there on a dog sledding tour? How many people per sledge? How many guides?
We take a maximum of 6 people on a dog sledding tour. Each person has its own team of 4-6 sleddogs. The dog pull you and a sledge with equipment for the tour. You stand behind hte sledge.
On all the overnight Sleddogs tour it is one person per sledge. A professional guide with experience with dog sledding lead a group with 4-5 people. For a group with six people an extra guide will join the team.
I am not very use to dogs is that a problem? The dogs look like tuff dogs. Do they like people?
You will get to know the our dogs during the dog sledding tour. Most people are very surprised by how much the dogs want to be cuddle.
Do you have insurance? What kind of insurance do I need
The company Nova arctic is insuranced. You must have your own personal travel insurance.
You must realize that there is risk with this physical activity.
Is there an age limit for the overnight dog sledding tours?
On our overnight dog sledding tour you will need to 16 years old. The tours demand's responsibility of you since you will drive your own team of sleddogs.
